Do You Provide Meal Plans?

This is a very common question our office gets when clients look to schedule with a Dietitian! And it makes sense - many people associate Dietitian's with weight loss and very prescriptive (and sometimes, restrictive!) meal plans. While some Dietitians may provide this, we are a bit different here at Flexible Nutrition.

Because we practice a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach, we don’t hand out one-size-fits-all meal plans to follow to the letter. Here’s what that means and what you can expect:
Our Approach to “Meal Plans”
Individualized, skill-building support
Rather than prescribing a strict menu, we meet you where you’re at and help you build the skills to create balanced meals that work in your real life—today, tomorrow, and years from now.
We’ll explore your tastes, lifestyle, cultural foods, medical nutrition needs (such as carbohydrate adjustments if you have Diabetes), and budget to shape practical strategies you can sustain.
2 Flexible meal & snack structure
We do provide a framework (e.g., how many meals/snacks, rough timing, portions of protein/carbs/fats, simple plate visuals) so you’re never left guessing.
You’ll also get plenty of meal and snack ideas to mix-and-match, giving you both structure and freedom.
In our work with patient's with eating disorders, the meal plan will be somewhat flexible, however, there will be aspects that are not flexible to help you recover from your eating disorder and your Dietitian will make that clear at your appointment.
3 First appointment focus.
The initial session is devoted to understanding your health history, goals, and lifestyle. There usually isn’t time to design a full meal strategy right then, but we’ll still send you home with one or two actionable tips to start.
4 Co-creating a plan together
In follow-up visits, we can absolutely develop a more detailed plan with you—guided by your preferences and our clinical expertise—so it feels doable and adaptable rather than rigid.
TLDR: We won’t hand you a strict “eat-this-or-else” menu, because those rarely work long-term. Instead, we’ll partner with you to build a nourishing pattern of eating you can trust and enjoy for the rest of your life! If that sounds good to you, we look forward to getting started!
